March 2019

It has been a really exciting winter and spring for me, this year of 2019.

I have had the great pleasure of working on a few different amazing projects. First off….

As a member of the FUTURE HISTORICAL SOCIETY I have worked with a group of about 25 amazing human beings with relationships to Ft. Greene, Brooklyn to develop a collaborative project that tells the story of this neighborhood and values the lives of ordinary peoples.

At the end of April, we are sharing our work with the public at BRIC in downtown Brooklyn, as well as at a number of incredibly special locations in Ft. Greene.  We tell the stories of these amazing places and the tenacious, visionary people behind them.

In December, I also began working with the brilliant Hadar Ahuvia and a swell cast of people in“The Dances are for Us.” Hadar continues her examination of the early construction of Israeli Folk Dance but this time with a group of individuals with varying relationships to Zionism, Israeli dance, and folk traditions in general.

This work has taught me a great deal and resonated richly with my own explorations of the “folk” and cultural heritage. We will be performing at Danspace Project May 30, 31 and June 1. Get your tickets!

This summer, I will be back in Seattle finishing up the Open Source Forms teacher training, and can’t wait to bring it back to New York to share with you. Stay tuned for class information.

With love and affection,
